Tips to ring in the New Year with the easiest party ever

We are about to hurdle over all that holiday hype and settle in for a week of lethargy and turkey leftovers. People will surface from their food coma and realize that they forgot to make plans for New Year’s Eve during all the holiday hustle and bustle.

With no plans yourself, you bite the bullet and decide to host a casual gathering that will be a great way to catch up with friends who you missed at Christmas—and don’t really have anywhere else to go!

With a few tips, some ingenuity, and a little bit of help from us, you can host a fabulous New Year’s Eve party…

New Year’s Eve party tips and tricks for the last-minute host

String lights.

Lighting is the essential element for any event. In a matter of minutes, white string lights will turn your home into an elegant affair. If you have a focal point, like a fireplace and mantle, drape lights over and around it. You can also choose to organize strings of lights in clusters throughout the room (and around the house) in glass vases, wrapped around stacks of books, or entwined around the bar area.

For a dramatic effect, string lights across the entire living room ceiling and rely on a dimly lit room to create a great atmosphere that will help your guests find the lips they want to be kissing at midnight.

Don’t worry about rushing around town in search of Christmas lights that you may never use again. We have a selection of twinkling festival lights that come in 12’ sections.

Set up a bubbly bar.

Nothing say’s NYE like champagne, so why not create a bubbly bar?! Make the spread look purposeful, fun, and sophisticated with a selection of fresh berries, long-stemmed herbs (like lavender and rosemary), clear rock candy sticks, carafes of fruit puree and/or juices, and—of course—your choice of bubbly.

Add in some paper straws, gold ribbon tied around the champagne glasses, and signage for the ingredients to kick your decor up another notch. And don’t forget the wine clips so that your guests don’t forget which glass is theirs throughout the night!

If you need to create some space, we have a portable rolling bar as well as a full-size fridge with freezer for all that extra ice. We also have water pitchers, champagne stands, champagne buckets, and punch bowls. If you want to make a statement, we also have a wonderful champagne fountain for rent. That’s right, a five gallon flowing fountain of bubbly!

Go for the gusto and fill your living room ceiling with silver and gold balloons, instead of lights. You could also go for classic black and white, or go wild and burst into the New Year with bold colours. No matter what colour palette you choose, we have all the balloons—and ribbons—you could imagine, and we even blow them up for you. Just make sure that you can squeeze them all into your vehicle and still be able to make your way home.

Let your guests get photo happy with the perfect addition to any party: a photo booth! Our photo booth buckets include fun props, a Bluetooth selfie stick (to use with your own phone), and instructions. All you need to do is get creative making memories with some of your favourite people. Plus, party photos can easily be shared among your guests and printed for blackmail later!

Crank up the playlist.

Nothing sets the tone of a party better than the music your guests hear when they walk through the door. If you can’t find a last minute musician, tap into your inner DJ and get busy creating some lengthy playlists and make sure that your speakers can handle party-level volume.

There’s also the option of streaming playlists with Spotify, iTunes, or Google Play. You can also ask your guests to bring their iPods, and other music players, loaded with their playlists. To keep the music pumping all night long, get people to take turns as DJ while you bust some moves on our dance floor.

Don’t bother with the dishes.

We rent a great selection of dishware, glassware, and cutlery when you don’t have enough to go around. Plus, we do all the dishes for you! When the party’s over, simply stack up all the dirty dishes and head to bed. It really is that easy.
